As an eclectic home schooling family, we read...ALOT!

I really lean heavily toward the Charlotte Mason (CM) method and her 'living books'. Way too much of what is available for our children today is twaddle!
On the other hand, I find that many times, books that are recommended on CM sites do not measure up to my personal standards.  I am very particular about what I let my children read. I pre-read all of their books. It is a lot of work to keep up with them, but the reward will be great!
Children are fertile soil. Everything that they see and hear is a seed. What do I want growing in those little hearts and minds? I want character. I want morals. I want a love for what is true, what is lovely, what is pure, what is of a good report.
I know that there are other moms out there who want to be careful also of what their children are reading. But not all moms have the time or patience (not sure I do either) to pre-read. So, in light of that, I am sharing our book list here. Perhaps in the future, I can also do some reviews of particular books. I will try to update this list as we go along.
